Greetings to all! My name is Dr. Maria Lyons and I am pleased to call The Den Chiropractic in Brighton, Michigan my home away from home.  Chiropractic has changed my life in so many wonderful ways as well as provided my family with a whole new perspective on the world and the way we live in it.  I am truly excited to share my passion for chiropractic with all of you.

The small town of Ortonville, Michigan was where my childhood days were spent.  I grew up in an area where internet coverage was a challenge and it forced us to spend our days outside until sundown exploring all nature had to offer.  My main interests during high school were the varsity track team and the culinary arts program, where my love for cooking became evident.  A few years after graduation, I was married and blessed with two beautiful daughters.  Less than a year after the birth of my second child, my life took a turn down a path that was never expected. 

My body started presenting multiple symptoms from head to toe that multiple professionals could not understand.  Widespread pain had become constant and intolerable and there was no foreseeable end in sight. Every minute of my life felt like an hour and the days were endless agony.  Soon many of my body's systems were being affected negatively.  Months of visits to six different specialists including multiple tests and five MRIs left me feeling exhausted and frightened and there  was no explanation offered for what was happening to me.  At that time, the only future I could see was blurry through a prescription for narcotic pain medication.

When I thought I had no other options, my mother managed to convince me to try one more thing I had never considered before and knew nothing about...CHIROPRACTIC!  After my first chiropractic adjustment, the pain decreased dramatically, and with continued treatment, my daily head aches soon disappeared.  Before long, I was functioning at 100% again and completely pain free.  As the miraculous changes happened within me, I realized that I would spend my life sharing the wonderful benefits and possibilities chiropractic can provide for all of us.  This led me to enroll at Life University in Marietta, Georgia to earn my Doctorate.

During my journey, I have carried a quote by Mahatma Gandhi that reminds me how impactful this journey has been:  "Be the change you wish to see in the world".  A future full of health and wellness is a beautiful thing; I look forward to helping you shape your story of how chiropractic changed your life for the better!
